The Tarsier Conservation Area is situated less than 10km southwest of the Chocolate Hills Complex along the Loay Interior Road, Carmen, Bohol. Made up of an introductory 6-hectare of forest area (25-hectare is primarily reserved for this purpose), this Tarsier Conservatory can be found in Brgy. Upper Bonbon, Loboc, Bohol. Here, you will have the ultimate chance to see the world’s smallest primate in captivity, but in their typical environment as they are in the wild.
The first 3-hectare development of this conservatory is currently available for tarsier viewing where some pebbled alleys are laid out for tourists and visitors. This wooded sanctuary has a thatched-roof (for the meantime) waiting area where you can buy souvenirs and is constructed to shelter the expected heavy inflow of visitors.
The tarsier is known in Bohol in different names, such as malmag, mamag, magatilok-iok, and mago.
