Taboan Market: The Danggit Capital of Cebu City
If you want ‘pasalubongs’ that will make your household back home to jump with joy, try Taboan Market’s exotic dried fish.
Among Cebu’s best markets for dried fish varieties, this public market is one of the busiest and most famous in Cebu. Taboan also boasts of ‘Danggit’ (rabbitfish or spine foot fish); a native dried and salted fish delicacy famous for its unique texture and taste.
The Taboan Public Market also sells fresh and dried seafood, mostly from Bantayan Island. Some of the dried seafood that could be found in the market located just beside the San Nicolas Proper Barangay Hall includes shrimp, squid, and tapa & tocino, among others.
How to get there
If you are coming from Cebu City proper, going to the Taboan Market is just a quick trip from downtown. Ride an Alumnos-bound jeepney (08G) from Colon and tell the driver to drop you off at Taboan. From the drop off point, ride a ‘trisikad’ (manually-driven tricycle) going to Taboan Market.
Location: The Taboan Public Market is situated along B. Aranas St. corner Lakandula St. Brgy. Taboan, Cebu City.
